Shipping policy
Venerabull sells goods that do not travel by parcel van. Almost everything here ships by freight, and freight works differently from a package. This page explains how, so that nothing about the delivery is a surprise.
Where we ship
We ship to street addresses within the contiguous United States. We do not deliver to PO boxes. Alaska, Hawaii, US territories and destinations outside the United States are quoted case by case — contact us before ordering and we will tell you what is possible.
Lead times
Lead time depends on the item and is confirmed to you in writing after your order is placed. We do not quote a single shipping window across the catalogue, because a figure that is right for one item is misleading for another. If a lead time changes after you order, we tell you.
Delivery levels
Freight carriers sell delivery in levels, and the level decides where the driver is obliged to stop. The level that applies to your order is stated before you are committed.
- Curbside. The crate is lowered to the ground at the end of your driveway on a tail lift. From the curb onward it is yours to move.
- Threshold. The crate comes as far as the first dry space inside the door, usually a garage or entryway. It is not carried further, unpacked or assembled.
- Room of choice. A crew brings it to the room you nominate, unpacks it and removes the packaging. Some items add assembly or connection on top of this.
Full detail is on our freight and delivery page.
Access, and telling us about it
A standard freight trailer cannot reverse down a narrow or steep drive, and low branches, tight turns, soft ground and gated communities all matter. Tell us about access before you order. If a full trailer cannot reach you, a carrier can usually cross-dock to a smaller truck, but that is arranged in advance rather than on the day. Redelivery caused by access that was not disclosed may be charged by the carrier.
The delivery appointment
Freight is not left on a doorstep. When your shipment reaches the terminal nearest you, the carrier telephones to arrange an appointment, usually offering a window of several hours rather than a fixed time. Someone aged eighteen or over must be present to inspect and sign. If the carrier cannot reach you, the shipment waits at the terminal, and carriers generally begin charging storage after a few days.
Inspection before you sign — this part matters
Your signature on the delivery receipt is a statement that the shipment arrived complete and undamaged, and it is difficult to undo. Before you sign:
- Count the pieces against the receipt.
- Walk around the whole shipment, including the top of the crate and the underside of the pallet.
- Photograph anything that looks wrong while it is still on the truck or on the ground.
- Write what you can see on the delivery receipt — specifically, not “subject to inspection” — and then sign.
Then uncrate promptly and keep all packaging until you are satisfied. Concealed damage found after uncrating should be reported to us immediately; carriers impose short deadlines on these claims and we cannot extend them.
Title and risk
Title and risk of loss pass to you on delivery to the address on your order. Damage occurring in transit is handled as a carrier claim, which we file and manage on your behalf.
If something is wrong
Contact us as soon as you find a problem. Have your order number, the carrier name and PRO or tracking number, a photograph of the signed delivery receipt, and photographs of the damage and the packaging. We handle the carrier from there.
